Seller checks and onboarding

Draft. The company details are being filled in.

How a business joins Vablus, what we check before it can take payments through Receivly, and what we keep checking after.

1. Joining Vablus

  1. A business signs up with a COVORN account: the business's name, the owner's name, an email and a phone number.
  2. The Vablus terms of service apply from sign-up.
  3. The owner adds the products, prices, delivery options and refund rules that the shop page and the assistant show customers.
  4. Only the owner, or a team member the owner made an admin, can change how the business is paid.

2. Before a business takes payments through Receivly

  1. The owner or an admin gives a Nigerian bank account in the business's name or, for a sole trader, the owner's name.
  2. We check the account with Paystack and read the name the bank holds for it.
  3. We compare that name with the business's name and the owner's name. Where they do not match, the business is flagged for our team to check by hand.
  4. The owner accepts the Receivly terms, and we record the version, the time and who accepted. A business that has not accepted the current version takes no new payments until it does.
  5. Only then do we create the business's Paystack subaccount. Its share of each payment goes from Paystack straight to that bank account. Receivly holds no balance for it.
  6. When we switch Receivly from test to live, each business confirms its bank account again before taking live payments.

3. Verified by Covorn

A shop shows the Verified by Covorn badge only while all of these are true:

  1. Our team has checked who runs the business, and recorded it.
  2. Payments go to an account in the business's name: either the Paystack name check matched, or our team checked the bank account.
  3. It has 5 or more paid orders in the last 90 days.
  4. Fewer than 1 in 10 of its live Receivly payments were refunded.
  5. It has no open payment dispute.
  6. It has not been taken off Vablus Market.
  7. Its buyers do not rate it under 3 out of 5 on average, once it has 5 or more reviews.

Only paid buyers can review a shop, from their receipt. The badge goes as soon as a check fails, and comes back when it passes again.

4. What we keep watching

  1. Refunds, disputes, failed deliveries and complaints from customers.
  2. Paystack's own reviews and alerts on a business's payments.
  3. Reports from customers and from other businesses.

5. Pausing a business

  1. We can pause a business's Receivly, take its shop off Vablus Market, or pause its use of Vablus, with the reason shown to the business.
  2. New payments stop at once. Payments already under way still complete, and refunds owed to customers are still handled.
  3. A business we paused cannot set Receivly up again by itself. It can write to us to ask for a review.
